Donating to the museum [edit]
In New Leaf [edit]
The information board in front of the tank that holds the Oarfish says the following:
"Oarfish are deep-sea habitation fish with long, sparse, silver bodies and one crimson fin lining their backs. They can achieve lengths of over 10 yards (9 meters), making them huge and striking fish. They usually swim by twisting their long, sparse bodies, only they can too swim in more vertical positions. Their mouths are minor compared to their bodies and they take no teeth, then they're large merely not imposing."
In New Horizons [edit]
When altruistic to Blathers or selecting "Tell me almost this!" in New Horizons, he will provide the following information about the fish:
"The oarfish is a long, eel-like fish that can supposedly reach upward to 36 anxiety in length. They appear in diverse legends equally things similar messengers of the gods. It seems to me a creature like that could explain the myth of massive, ship-crushing sea serpents. It is, of form, well documented that people tend to exaggerate the size of "the 1 that got away"."
When donated, the Oarfish can be found in the north-eastern-most room of the fish exhibit, in the "sea" tank which is about the submersible and diving suit. Information technology shares this tank with the Barreleye, Coelacanth, and Football game Fish.
Fishing Tourney [edit]
In New Leaf [edit]
During a Line-fishing Tourney, when given a Oarfish, Chip will say the following:
"Ooh, I hear bad things near oarfish. People say they're too oily. Nope, non very tasty at all! Bad news! So yeah, I gauge I'd better non eat it. I mean, information technology DOES make sense. Oars are for paddlin', not eatin'!"
